Day 11 Ages to Burgos
Hello from Burgos! Last night after i finished my blog i went back to the albergue and started to talk to these 2 Dutch ladies who i had seen around every day but never had a chance to properly talk to. We had a drink together one of them is a project manger while the other one is a commuincation teacher at a university close to Amstedam. we had a great chat than i went out for dinner with this English lady from Kent called Becky she is travelling on her own as well. after dinner we went back to the albergue and taked with the dutch ladies again. the girl who is running the albergue seemed really nice and we got into a chat with her. turns out she did the Camino in february and while they were walking with her boyfriend they stoped in this village and decided to buy an albergue. she is 25. it was the 4th day of the albergue. she said she had enough of her life in Barcelona too much stress and noise and she thought all her friends think she is crazy but she thought why not? she said " if i screw this up and it turns out that it wasxa mistake i still have a lifetime to make this up" and i really liked that. im not saying i will open an albergue here but it was very interesting to hear. also it was good to listen to the other side of this journey- not our ( pilgrim) version. i slept really well finally. i left a little later the next day than usual around 8 but i knew that it would be a fairly easy ground and i only had to walk 23km to Burgos so it was no pressure. igot to Burgos 12.15 but i didnt get to go inside the albergue for 45 min as the que was thathuge. i was praying to get a bottom bed and so when i went upstairs i saw that i did!yippie!! but i also saw that a German girl packed all her stuff to my bed. i thought screw that. i finally got a bottom bed i wont give it up so i just put all her stuff to the top of the bunk. when she came back she was so pissed with me that she wasnt even willing to look at me :-) but i just laughed at her. the rest of the afternoon i spent walking around Burgos and resting. Burgos is really nice has a huge Cathaderel and i decided to go to the pilgrim mass at 7.30.than Jackie texted me that we are meeting for tapas dinner at 5.30. so it was Jackie,Matt and Becky and the 3 Canadians; Hans and Al and tge 3rd Canadian who is actually American Marty we just call them the 3 muskateers and French man who has beenwalking with the boys called Jean- Marie (? not sure on speling) :-) anyway we started to order food and vine.... probably too much vine so before i noticed i already missed pilgrim mass but it was one of those nights i will always remember my life and i wouldnt change tgat for anything. these people played such a special part in my Camino experience. The Canadians were tge first people i met when i started and even though they all could be father (in their 60's) i feel we had a special connections and they are planning to come and visit me in Budapest nexy year with their wife where we will hold the first camino reunion :-) Jackie and Matt are also so close to me now. they are just super witty and cute and i will miss them terribly. so we ordered calimari as a starter and i thought ok i give it a try... guesswhat! i actually loved it. lol this journey is really changing me :-) so we went from one bar to another and more vine and more great stories. oh i laughed so much i was in pain. it was really the best night so far and Burgos was filled with our laughter.than i went back to albergue and started to write this blog but i was so tired i passed out...today 31 km for me and the meseta....
love,
Viki
