Day 1 SJPDP-Roncesvalles

So this pilgrim managed to cross the Pyrenees today in 9 hours with 15 kg on my back. i climbed up to 1400m where i crossed the French border to Spain. I AM SO PROUD/HAPPY/TIRED :-) It was probably the hardest day of my life and I never wanted to quit anything so badly before. But i didn't and here i am. i went to bed really early last night but because i was sharing the room with 12 other people it wasn't easy. I was planning to get up at 7 and leave by 8 but the other pilgrims decided to get up at 6 which left me with like 2 hrs of quality sleep so before i realized i was on the road by 7. the first 8 km almost killed me - not joking and i kept thinking what an idiot i am for doing this but when after 23 km from the top of the mountain I saw the village it all made it worth while. I am one of the youngest in the group surprisingly the average age is 45 but i saw 80 years old walking hand in hands too. I was walking alone for the whole day however i did join this group of 70 years old robots ( i really cant believe the speed they were walking at). I usually caught up with them when they were doing group pic so i think in a few weeks time they'll realize that i photo bombed all their pictures :-) My back is in pain a little bit but otherwise I'm OK. Learned lots of new things such as always pick the bed next to the window :-), how to walk with a walking stick and how important is it, coffee can do magic and if you have hot water in shower you can really feel like a new person! Tomorrow should be ok with "only" 22 km ahead of me. Thank you for all the msgs, prayers and thoughts yesterday too ♡i had hiccups all day :-)  i am turning my mobile off today so i wont be able to reply for a while! Wish me luck- its a beautiful road with loads of interesting people and i hope i will have the power to carry on :-) lots of love! and if my mommy is reading this: Nagyon Boldog Anyak Napjat Anyuci! Nem is kivanhatnek jobb anyat nalad es a mai utat neked ajanlottam fel!! Szeretlek! Viki
